I want to stop having sex before marriage but my boyfriend is against that. Said we’ve already been doing it so there’s no point in stopping. I tried explaining that it isn’t forever, just until we get married but he thinks the damage is done and no point in stopping. He looks at our relationship as marriage, even though it’s not. He’s a Christian and wants to be good but things like this make me question our compatibility and whether he truly fears God. I no longer want to live in sin. I am ashamed. What should I do? has anyone else gone through this in their relationship? How can I help my partner see why it’s worth stopping and re-waiting?
Now that you realize it is wrong, by continuing you move into the realm of unrepentant sin. If he is pushing you to do this, you should seriously consider breaking up with him and finding a more righteous man.
Think of it like any other sin, would that argument work? For example, someone stole something. Should they keep stealing then again because they’ve already done it once, or stop and repent of what they’ve done? Or say they shot and killed someone, should they now become a serial killer and keep on murdering people because they’ve already killed once?
